I’m always searching for new ways to understand the game of baseball, especially Nationals baseball. Some people read books on the sport, others pick up a glove and bat and attempt to play the game for themselves. There is a rare breed that actually pays money and attends actual, real baseball games. I know. I can’t believe it either.

However, I decided to get down and dirty myself and try to understand the National Pastime from a different angle. I decided to partake in one of baseball’s primative ancestors as we all know that baseball evolved from the sport known as deer hunting. It’s true. A book told me it was true and since it is in print, it has to be true. Anyways, I went out almost everyday trying to figure out what makes guys like John Lannan and Jesus Flores tick and finally I nailed this doe at 30-yards with my 30-30 lever action rifle. Dropped her painlessly in one shot.

That’s right. Lever action. It makes me feel like a cowboy. Just like this blog.

Spring Is Official - The Nationals released their official Spring Training Schedule. They will be facing both the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees this year with tickets to games going on sale in January. Pitchers and catchers report Feb. 14th.

In related news, the agent for the season known as Spring also announced Spring will officially make it’s ump-billionth appearance on this planet around the same time. And that is good news.

Are the Nats “Willing”ham? – The New York Mets, a franchise on the brink of complete EPIC FAIL are expressing interest in Nationals outfielder Josh Willingham. The Mets would like Willingham’s bat power because all theirs are getting old or suck. The Giants, Braves and Mariners also have interest.

Willingham is a great piece for any team, but he is coming off a career year, and those back issues always seem to come up in conversation so the question is: can Willingham do it again? I’m not sure what the sinking Mets could offer the Nats in return, but if the return is ample, I see no reason why Willingham wouldn’t be expendable.

All those teams suck so they would have to offer something up. I like Santana or Lincecum or trading to stop that stupid tomahawk chop or end Starbucks.

Random Flim-Flam – Starters and relievers on Nats X-Mas list, an appointment for the Nats Minor League coaches and these prospects are hotter than hot buttered rum.

NQ NEWS - I just want to thank everyone for sticking around with us during this off season. I know the NQ hasn’t been “on par” lately and that has a lot to do with the holidays and a recent life changes. We’ll get this baby going hot again probably sometime after the holidays.
