Nationals Have A Highlander
Rotoworld.com reports the Nationals have signed pitcher Ryan Speier to a minor league deal:
Nationals signed RHP Ryan Speier to a minor league contract.
Speier signed a split contract, so he’ll earn $425,000 for time spent in the majors and $90,000 in the minors. The 30-year-old right-hander has a 3.99 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 90 career appearances, spanning four major league seasons. He allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings (five appearances) with the Rockies in ‘09.
While this news certainly won’t stop the presses, I only mention it because Ryan graduated from Radford University in Virginia and I too am an alumni of that particular institution. So I have to give a shout out of congratulations.
YOU’RE A HIGHLANDER BY GOD! I HAVE YOUR WOMAN!
Great movie and a pretty kicking school looking back on those times. The stories I could tell. A lot of Virginia schools rag on Radford as the party school, but they are just jealous because their school was so uptight and dull. If Radford University was a member of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles it would be Michelangelo with a pinch of Raphael. No Donatello or Leonardo.
If you can follow what I mean and understand, I congratulate you. The point being yeah, yeah, Virginia Tech had Michael Vick, UVA had Ryan Zimmerman, but Radford–
