This is sort of shocking news because I’ve always pegged Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman being completely obsessed with baseball. I mean I thought this guy was all about eating, sleeping and playing baseball and nothing else. Women? Who needs women when he has a Louisville Slugger to keep him warm under the sheets? Apparently, I was wrong.
The All-Star face third baseman already has a Gold Glove, but now he will be soon adding a gold ring to his finger. Or white gold. Or platinum. Or whatever he likes. Whatever. He is engaged to be married to Heather Downen, his girlfriend of two years. The Reliable Source:
Engaged: Ryan Zimmerman, 27, and Heather Downen, 28, in a bittersweet piece of Opening Day news for Nationals fan-girls across the region. The Virginia-bred superstar third baseman — who just got a $100 million deal to stay in Washington through 2019 — and the tech-firm sales rep have been dating about two years, according to society blog Guest of a Guest.
Congratulations to them both. Miss Downen looks smokin’. She must really like baseball players and Zimmerman must like foxy cougars considering she is older than him. And that is okay, nothing wrong with that. I’d like to think we live in a progressive society.
Baseball players should be allowed to be real people too.
